Taiyou no Kisetsu (Season of the Sun)

taiyouIf you’ve seen Takizawa Hideaki dramas you know that he is at his best when he plays characters that are conflicted in obscure and sometimes dark situations (Majo no Jouken, Boku dake no Madonna, Strawberry on the Shortcake). Tackey is no different here.

‘Season of the Sun’ showcases Tatsuya’s (Tackey) determination to manipulate and destroy the lives of the rich and privileged. He purposely befriends the young and naive socialites, and eventually gains the utmost trust of the richest kid on the block, Kouhei. Believing that Tatsuya is his only true friend, the rich kid is fooled time and again by his new best friend; blinded even as Tatsuya delves into a relationship with his fiancée.

—I don’t know about you, but so far the drama seems to be giving off “The Talented Mr. Ripley” vibes.

Anyway, nothing seems to be able to stop Tatsuya from his life of vengeance until his chance encounter with an aspiring composer and pianist. Ah, the light in this otherwise dark tale. However, unbeknownst to Tatsuya, she too is a rich girl.

Young, crippled, and overprotected, the girl is drawn by the dark and broody Tatsuya.

—Do you see where this is going? Know the ending already? You’re wrong then. The ending does surprise you. However, I was still disappointed because this drama seriously had a lot of potential to be great! I still say watch it for Tackey who does a great job as always.

Devil Beside You

devilbesideyouStory:
Oh the drama… It’s full of the cutest and most romantic scenes possible. It’s full of the typical obstacles in a love story possible. It’s stretched beyond the limit to fill the hearts of all those romantics. Basically, it’s all your favourite romance stories mashed into one.

And that’s why I didn’t like it.

Acting:
No doubt that all the actors did a brilliant job. Rainie Yang was perfect and was the only reason that I was able to keep watching to the end. Mike He on the other hand was seriously boring. Same expressions over and over. The supporting actors did a better job than him. He’s a great kisser though. ;p

Music:
The music in this drama is really good. I’ll be looking them up. :D Not the opening theme song though. lol

Overall:
I was really expecting this drama to be good since SOOOOO many people recommend it!

I really am disappointed since it’s my first Taiwanese drama too. They should’ve made it shorter because by episode 12, I was tired.

Tatta Hitotsu no Koi

tattahitotsunokoiStory:
Apparently one of the most romantic J-dramas on Crunchyroll forums, but I beg to differ. The drama pays tribute to Hollywood’s Titanic complete with ships, Irishy music, and love.

Acting and Music:
I’m not a fan of Kame and in this drama I didn’t like him at all. He was better in other dramas like Sapuri and NwP, but here…meh. Same goes for Ayase Haruka, Toda Erika, and Kame’s friend (whose name I don’t know). I’ve seen them all in other dramas and those were much better than this.

The music was mostly instrumental and reminded of the Titanic movie. Don’t remember much else.

Overall:
I was expecting much better, so I am disappointed. The only good part was the first episode and then it just went downhill from there.
